Renderings of CG environments created and modified for Travel Notes of a Geechee Girl, a feature documentary written and directed by Julie Dash that celebrates the life and global travels of chef, journalist, actor, and author Vertamae Smart-Grosvenor.
For sequences depicting Vertamae’s years in mid-20th-century Paris, a commercially available 3D ballroom model was modified in Cinema 4D, extensively reworking the environment to authentically reflect the period and support the film’s historical narrative. The completed environments were integrated into the documentary to enhance its visual storytelling and bring pivotal moments of Vertamae’s life to the screen.
